Good best man wedding speeches are well known for
being funny, even to the point of poking fun at
the groom.

The groom and bride speeches and especially the
father of the bride speech are markedly less
humorous in nature, and this is appropriate.

to be extra witty.

So, if you’re a best man, the questions are:

How do you come up with a speech which is funny,
yet non-offensive?

What stories can you tell about the groom that will
keep your audience interested, without offending
him or making him look stupid?

There can be a thin line between funny and

you say during the speech cannot be undone later.

The first step would be to write everything out.

Everybody has a video made of their wedding these days,
so simply borrow a dvd of a friend or family member’s
wedding [provided they have great speeches, of course!]
and just model your own speech after theirs -
simple, but effective.

Don’t copy it too closely, though – it is just a sample

rehearsed your speech in advance of the big day.
It doesn’t have to be long or elaborate, just
well planned.

Getting it right involves some advance planning,
so don’t put it off! Find time before the wedding
to figure out roughly what you’re going to say
[and who you're going to thank!].
